Historic Roots in Judaism

The Holy Bible has genuine historic roots in Judaism which goes back about 4000 years to Abraham who is credited with being the father of the nation of Israel. The detailed documentation of the Jewish nation lends a lot of credibility to the Holy Scriptures.

The Hebrew Scriptures, known today as the Tanach consists of three parts, the Torah, the Prophets and the Writings. All these Scriptures are an integral part of the Bible known as the Old Testament.

With Scriptures being as old as they are it has certainly given plenty of time for serious critics to discredit them. Over the years many have tried. One of the major problems in trying to discredits writings like the Torah is you have to discredit the well documented history of the Jewish people and the nation of Israel.

The Torah which makes up the first five books of the Tanach (Hebrew Scriptures) as well as the first five books of the Bible is inseparable from the nation of Israel. Israel's history is a religious one and its the documentation of their experiences with Jehovah that give us the Hebrew Scriptures as well as the Bible's Old Testament Scriptures.

Dead Sea Scrolls

1947 saw the discovery of what is known today as the Dead Sea Scrolls; an amazing collection of parchments that were hidden in various caves. It is believed that they were placed there for preservation just prior to Jerusalem's destruction in 70 AD by the Romans.

The Scrolls have revolutionized textual criticism of the Old Testament. Interestingly, now with manuscripts predating the medieval period, these texts are in agreement with the Masoretic text and have given greater credibility to both the Tanah (Hebrew Scriptures) as well as the Bible's Old Testament.

It's possible for people to disagree with the religion of the Jewish people but with the discovery of the Dead Sea Scroll and the credibility they give to the Hebrew Scripture it's impossible to deny that these Scriptures have had an integeral part of Israel's history and religion.

The Dead Sea Scrolls have given undeniable cedability to the Old Testament Scriptures of today's Holy Bible.

Perfectly Timed Events

The fulfillment of Bible predictions (prophecy) is a very powerful tool in determining the authenticity of the Scriptures.

The ancient Hebrew Scriptures (Tanach) contains much prophesy regarding Israels future and world events. There is a lot of Scripture that predicted the coming of the Messiah. For hundreds of years Israel anticipated His appearing.

The Tanach gave the Israelites specific things to look for and means whereby they would be able to identify the authenticity of the Messiah. Listed below are some of these predictions. In the years following the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls they have helped to confirm the accuracy of the Old Testament. It is commonly accepted among Bible scholars that there about 2500 Bible prophesies recorded in the Old Testament of which about 2000 have been accurately fulfilled. It has been determined that the odds for all this to have happened by chance is 1 in 10 to the 2000th power, that's 1 with 2000 zeros after it.

It is estimated that it would take 200 billion earth's populated with 4 billion people each to come up with one person who could give 100 prophecies that would be accurately fulfilled in sequence. There have already been 2000 Bible prophecies accurately fulfilled. The most significant and historically significant prophecies are those relating to the Messiah, the Christ, the Anointed One; the One commonly known today as Jesus.

The Key Is It Works

God loves people and He only wants the absolute best for them. The problem is we don't always believe this. The New Testament Scriptures tell us the story of God's love for us all. This love is so powerfully demonstrated to us through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the Cross. Jesus is God's provided Savior. He has done for all of us what we could never do for ourselves. He has made it possible for us to enjoy the blessings of sins forgiven and a right relationship with God.

Everything we're told in the New Testament fits together so perfectly, so wonderfully. God's Word works. One of the most powerful testimonies to the authenticity of the Bible is that IF a person does what it says then its promised results occur. I for one testify to this truth. Since receiving Jesus Christ as my personal Savior over 30 years ago I have experienced God's promises being fulfilled in my life just as the Bible says. For me to deny this would be absolutely wrong. God's Word works as you purpose obey it. Ask any truly "Born Again" Believer. It all fits, and meshes together in the perfect will of God.
